Letter Formatting

Introduction

You can write letters for anything. You can write a letter to your friend to ask them how they have been, or you can write a letter to a company with concerns that you have.

The introduction to your letter should look like the above picture. You want to make sure that you double space between each section to make it easier to read. Also, quadruple space after the date. Don't put any punctuation after the salutation.

Your end of your letter should look like the above picture. Put a quadruple space after the closing line. You want to do that because after you print the letter, you sign your signature in between the closing line and your name.

Report Formatting

Introduction

Writing reports are very simple as long as you follow the steps. You write reports to write a review for a book, movie or play, and many more reasons. In a MLA heading, you put your name, then your teacher's name on the next line, followed by the Class and class hour, and then the date. For the date, it should go day month then year.  When you cite your work, it needs to be on a separate page. Title the page "Works Cited". Cite your sources on your own or by using Easybib.com. Once you've completed the works cited page, highlight your work and go to paragraph: formatting: special: hanging indent.

The above picture is what the beginning of your report should look like. All margins need to be 1 inch, and the entire report should be double spaced. The MLA heading is in the top left corner, as I explained in the first paragraph. For the title, center the text and capitalize the first letter of each word. When you start a new paragraph, make sure to indent. Underline the title for each sub heading.

The above picture is what your Reference page should look like. The citations need to be in alphabetical order by the author's last name. Also, once you finish your works cited, highlight it all and go to paragraph: format: special: hanging indent. This will make your page look neat. To cite your sources, you can either do it on your own or go to easybib.com

Tips

Make sure your report is double spaced, and the margins are set at one inch. Indent in every paragraph, and capitalize the first letter of each main word in your titles. If you have any subheadings, capitalize those and underline them. Don't forget to include your MLA heading either.
